When you need to move material fast, this solid carbide 1/2" upshear rougher is the right tool. The 3-flute chipbreaker profile — also known as a serrated or castle rougher — breaks chips into shorter segments as it cuts, which dramatically reduces cutting forces, heat, and vibration compared to a standard spiral. That lets you run higher feed rates and deeper single-pass depths than you'd otherwise attempt. The upshear direction pulls chips up and out of the cut, keeping the flutes clear and the cut zone cool during high-feed passes. The FEM geometry means you can plunge straight in without a pre-drilled start hole — no separate entry operation needed. It measures 1-5/8" cut length, 3-1/2" overall length, 1/2" shank.
